I got a promotion!! The week before our spring break the director of the site I work at resigned and I applied for his position. For the last two weeks I have been acting as the director until interviews had been conducted. This morning I had my interview and found out this afternoon that I had been given the job! I am very excited to have this opportunity and look forward to tomorrow when I take over my new responsibilities.

A few days ago on my drive home from work, I noticed a sweet scent wafting past my nose. Having just bought a new perfume, I was marveling at how wonderful I smelled. Several days went past and I continued to drink in the wonderful aroma of flowery sweetness. It wasn’t until I turned a corner that I saw the little white flowers on the orange trees. Turns out, orange trees bloom and the flower smells incredible!! I drive through orange groves for miles everyday, and I have to say, aside from the mountains, this may be my favorite part of living in California! The smell is somewhat like Honeysuckle with traces of citrus. It’s amazing! I wish you all could be here to experience this, but what I’ve attached will have to do, I suppose.

I love Spring Break! I love working for a school and getting a free vacation! I just had to announce that. Anyway, Chuck’s vacation happened to coincide with my spring break, so we decided to spend the week in Denver, CO. Denver was great, beautiful, and cold, of course. The first day I had appointments with advisors at two schools there, University of Colorado in Downtown Denver and University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. Both sessions went very well, and much to my surprise, found that the program in Greeley is done completly online. Chuck and I spent most of the rest of the week hanging out with some of the friends he has in Denver and checking out the different areas in Denver. Overall, it was a great week. Chuck’s has some great friends who are very welcoming and generous.
Denver was pretty much exactly what I expected so I was very pleased with the visit. I really liked the area and could definately see myself living there. I even got to experience the cold weather Denver is so famous for. The third day in Denver, we woke up to snow and it continued to flurry the rest of our visit there! I haven’t made any decisions yet about where I plan to go to school but I can at least say that my questions about what may lie ahead for me in Denver have been answered.

During practicaly the entire drive out to California, Chuck kept raving about this amazing fast food place that only exists in California. Every hour or so (which, on a three day drive, felt like about every five minutes) he would get excited and remind me that we were getting closer to being able to eat the best burgers in the world. Given my vegetarian background, I’m sure you can imagine my excitement. The day soon arrived after getting settled here that I would be introduced to this culinary wonder and I have to admit, he was right. I often find myself craving these famous burgers accompanied by the world’s BEST french fries. Really, the fries are AMAZING! So, what is it that makes this place so great? They do one thing and do it well. In-N-Out only makes hamburgers and cheeseburgers. Their fries are cut from potatoes fresh in the store and aren’t fried with anything else. Plus, they are strategic. There are only a precious few stores scattered throughout the state. And, I happen to be lucky enough to live in a town graced by this wonderful place.
