Although I love my new home; although I am thrilled to be on this new journey; although I am starry eyed over the new, exciting things in my life, who I am has been shaped by my Mid-west (with distinct Southern influences) upbringing.  In tribute to the Heartland I give you my favorite things about Missouri…

1. I love the morning frosts in the winter time when the fields and trees have a white glow that shimmers in the sun.  I also love the crispness in the morning air.

2. I LOVE the way the air smells when the seasons are changing.

3. I love the farmlands with the silos, barn and gently rolling hills.

4. I love summer evenings in Missouri.  The cicadas singing, the lazy feeling, I even like the humidity.  Although it is uncomfortable, it is familiar and feels like home.

5. I love the fact that there are so many great people all over the state who care about me and who I deeply care about.

6. I love the way the barrenness of winter creates such an anticipation and excitement for spring and summer.

7. I love the first warm day of spring.  There is a carefree feeling in the air with people eager to trade in their heavy winter clothes for shorts, short sleeve shirts, skirts and flip flops.

8. I love September in Missouri.  There is a smell and feeling in the air like no other time of the year.

9. I love the fact that a White Christmas is possible in Missouri.

10. I love the beautiful trees in Missouri in Fall.

Here is the top ten (but not necessarily comprehensive list) of my favorite things about my new home…

1. Oranges!        Tree Farms

Fruit Trees!!  Not only do I love the many groves of commercialy grown fruit trees that are so abundant here, but I absolutely LOVE the fact that on a routine walk around the neighborhood I can encounter any number and variety of fruit bearing trees growing in a neighbor’s yard.

2. Multiple biker bars… Ok, not really but I do love the fact that there is more than one restaurant, bank, gas station and Dollar General here.  :)  (Did I mention I am 5 minutes away from THREE Starbucks!)

3.    Lovely Chuck

I love that I get to see this lovely face every day!!

4. I love it that I look outside my back window and this is what I see… EVERY DAY!…

     Mountains        Mountains II       Mountains III

The white in the background of those pics is not clouds… it’s SNOW on the mountains!  One of the first things I do everyday is look to see if it is a clear day.

5.  The weather!! 75 degrees and sunny while Christmas shopping… 28 degree lows is considered “dangerous”… and Fall has just begun!

6.   More Happiness    Did I mention that I love getting to see him everyday?? :)

7.  I love that this one state contains one of the most dangerously hot places in the country as well as one of the most dangerously cold places in the country.  I am within driving distance from snow covered mountains, several national parks, some of the largest trees in the world, beaches, warm, sunny weather or cold, snowy weather…. all in one state!

8. I love it that I only have to drive 30 minutes to take a picture like this one…

9.  I love seeing images like these… they make me smile

Cali PO    Cali PH   Cali Dennys

Post Office                     Pizza Hut                     Denny’s

10.  I love it that I am doing something I have always wanted to do, and it is everything I hoped it would be…
